Where we've been....where we're going!
October 28, 2007, began a new journey for us. God told us to take a quanset hut that had been used as a garage and turn it into a church. The building was a 48 x 24. We put a window unit in a hole in the back wall, put metal chairs on the concrete floor, hung shop lights in the ceiling and slid the big garage door open and invited 'whosoever will' to come. Our little window unit couldn't handle the job it had been assigned to do. Even with sweat rolling off us, we felt so blessed to have church with people who loved God.
We tried to figure out a better and inexpensive way to cool the church. We were in a metal shed with no insulation whatsoever. My father-in-law suggested a soaker hose on the top of the building on the side the sun hit in the mornings. This brought the temperature down about 10 degrees. It also brought a surprise to those sitting in particular pews. We found out that our roof had holes....so imagine their surprise when water dripped down on them.
By summer time, God had put us in contact with a man who sold us a brand new commercial unit for about a 1/3 of it's cost because of a dent it had in it. Our first service with the new unit was heavenly!
We moved from metal chairs to handmade pine pews that had lumpy cushions. No one minded the lumpy cushions after sitting on metal chairs. Then God blessed us with real pews. A lady called and asked if we would like the pews their church was GIVING away!!! We said YES!!!
We began doing fundraisers to put carpet in our church. We set a goal to have our carpet in by our second anniversary service. It was in!!!
God has blessed us with some awesome people. But we are quickly approaching our capacity for our church. We want everyone who wants to be a part of us to be able to. As we pondered how we were going to build a new church, God sent us a builder to our church. He has offered to build us a church well below what it should cost us!!! We have set a goal of having our Christmas service in our new church. This gives us 6 months to raise the money. For the past two and half years we have seen people open their hearts and checkbooks to bless us. God has said to build so it's time to build!
Our new church will be 70 x 40. We need $67,000.
If God lays it on your heart to donate to our new church, we would be more than happy to give you a receipt for your donation. We would love to have your prayers on our awesome journey. We would also love to have you come be in service with us!
